James' code is WAY too buggy - Spot the Bug Python Edition Part 1

In this special “pop-up session,” we're challenging attendees to spot the bug!

We'll present a number of simple programs containing syntactical, logical, and conceptual errors . For each program, we'll give the audience a couple of moments to spot the bug(s,) then work together to explain the nature of these errors and their appropriate resolution.
The programs will involve simple scripting tasks using Python and the standard library. Some bugs will be obvious, some will be subtle. Are you up for the challenge?
