2019-2024 Sierra/Silverado: 4X4 Transfer Case Oil Change

How to change the 4X4 transfer case fluid on a 2019-2023 Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra. Same process for the Yukon, Tahoe, Suburban, and Denali; 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.

Heat and load exposure are the determining factors for service interval. Obviously, doing the service early and regular can minimize breakdown of the fluid, preventing gear-wear and contamination that lead to seal, bearing, and/or electrical component failure. In general, an interval of 30-60,000 miles is recommended with the range dependent on driving conditions, ie. heavy start/stop traffic, towing, and extensive 4X4 operation.

Thanks, no nonsense, but detailed, can’t ask for more than that! The dealer just quoted me $125 for servicing just the transfer case, I had them do the trans, service for $635, but I typically do the other services myself. After choking on the $125 for a quart and a half of fluid I thought I’d look up a video making sure it’s an easy as I figured.

Thanks for the tip! I have a 2014 V6 4x4 and I think it is time for the transmission fluid change, any special tips on that other than filter and Oil ? Not sure how to get all, the fluid out. Back in the day before lockup converters we drilled a 5/16 hole & tapped an 1/8 pipe plug to ensure all the old fluid came out. Thoughts?

Question for you, I have a 2016 GMC sierra 2500hd with 6.0, about to do the front and rear differential and transfer case, can’t find torque specs but I’m seeing 30 ft lbs and 24 ft lbs rear and 13 fr lbs for transfer case. Does that sound about right?

So I keep getting mixed info on the mobil 1 lv atf hp fluid saying it's compatible with dex vi. The older black label says it is however I ordered 2 quarts and got the blue lable which doesn't mention it on the back. Would this also work and be compatible. In my t case 2020 silverado.

i never used loctite. i torqed it to 20 ft pounds. deff aint coming loose
