Story 3 - OP was so brave back there, even he saw a dark figure below the stairs, he chose to walk passed by them instead of turning around, run away, & find another way to exit the building from that dark figure!

I've been in at least a couple dozen abandoned buildings over the years, but one of the coolest ones was literally in my back yard so to speak.

It was about a ten minute walk down one end of the neighborhood in the woods behind a little country club. The CC & the cul de sac attached to it were also created as a byproduct of both old Barite mines & a plane crash in the 1940s. Anyways, we found the derelict house one day while exploring trying to find evidence of the other stuff over there.

This was probably around 2009 or 2010. When we entered the house, it was like a time capsule. The owner literally left one day in 2001 and left everything as it were. I'm talking dishes in the sink, mail on the kitchen table, fully furnished, etc.

I looked up the guy and he's fine, just moved to another town. Also got the low down on the property from this older guy I knew who was the owner of my favorite local bar at the time who used to live in my same neighborhood and knew the family. I should also mention that there was a giant open field in the middle of the woods just in front of that house which was allegedly illegal mafia strip mining operations in the 50s or 60s.

The house has since been demolished and the property sold, there's now a weird non denominational church & graveyard in that field. There were several cars and farm equipment in those woods though, and they're still there. The cars are anywhere from the 1960s to the 1980s, the only one I can identify for sure is a Triumph TR-7 that is in what used to be the back yard. The other two older cars are off to the sides in the woods and are full of bullet holes. I actually just went to check out the place about a month or so ago.

Never did find any evidence of the plane crash or the entrance to the old mines...

Story 1: That's why you never go alone in the woods without a firearm. Also, that door obviously was concealing something bad. Weapons, drugs, or abducted persons. Warrants a police call.

So the first guy didnt think to call the police when he found a pad locked door in the abandoned house and the fact it seemed like someone was creeping around? I mean never mind the fact he decided to still stay out in the woods even though he thought he was being followed. If these stories are real some people really have no self preservation skills!
