I’m reminded of a story I read as a kid: A greedy king was hoarding all of the kingdom’s grain (specifically rice), and the people were starving. One woman went to the palace and made a very simple deal with the king - today, he would give her a single grain, and for the next thirty days, each day she would receive double what she had received the previous day. The king agreed, because surely that wouldn’t amount to that much. By the last day, every single grain of rice the king had stored belonged to the woman, which she then distributed to the rest of the populace.
