Singapore aims to have up to 700 Advanced Practice Nurses who will be able to prescribe medication by 2030. This is a twelve-fold increase from the 57 who can do so now. It's made possible through the launch of an integrated internship programme. It will allow Master of Nursing graduates to train in their areas of practice earlier, and attain rights to prescribe medication. The Health Ministry said having more of these nurses will help boost the country's healthcare system.

Is this really necessary for nurses to be trained to prescribe medication. It duplicate the doctor's duties. What happens, when the wrong medication is prescribed by the nurse leading to death. Will she be held responsible or will she be protected from malpractice with no compensation for the victim's family ?
