Not very happy with this. This is the 3rd JT chain that I have bought new. The first two bikes I didn't have long enough to see any wear on the chain. This bike I have ridden quite a bit and the chain is already JUNK! Thanks for watching!

JT has many grades of Chains as do other brands, fx the JT Z3 chain for bikes with lots of power which is much stronger than lewer grades. Don't know if its the case but you might not have the right chain from JT for the bike

Thanks on feedback, I was too close to buy the x1r x ring on ebay to space some 10 pounds, but will go with did or RK instead. Cheers

Jt makes really good sprockets but they chains are trash. Mine snapped after 2 months

Thanks for sharing your experience!
My shitty JT chain is the complete opposite! Such a shame.
The chain has stretched to where I can't adjust it on my swingarm anymore & the links are way too stiff with 5 tight spots (all under 9, 000 miles).
Stock D.I.D. didn't get tight spots until 26, 000 miles.

I have JT sprockets for a Vstar 250 and its been on for 15k miles and it looks ok; the front sprocket seems a bit fucky but I'm gonna replace it soon

This doesn't look like a gold chain to me but maybe thats the camera or my monitor or something, this looks distinctly like a standard cadmium plated chain!
I've used JT sprockets in combination with a D.I.D gold 'X' ring chain and, so far, have no issue with them at all. Maybe a case of wrong grade of sprocket for the application...
You say the sprocket is "skinnier" that the OEM sprocket, could this be a case of the wrong size sprocket for the bike? like maybe a 520 instead of a 530 ? let me know....
You also dont say what bike your using ....
I can't comment on the chains as I haven't used them but if you see an 'O' ring chain advertised for sale at only £20, as I have on a well known auction site, suspect a counterfeit item!

I had a IT chain as well. trash!...only did 5k miles and it's super loose. I can pull it off sprocket as well. Smh. super loose...like 80 something.

FYI the sprocket wear is the result of chain wear; doesn't really say much about sprocket quality

yeah man chains and sprockets are definitely a "you get what you pay for" item on a motorcycle. In all honesty Primary Drive are really only a notch up from JT but better. Most chain manufacturers have a regular or HD chain...(the cheapies) made for small CC low horsepower machines then they have the race or extreme duty chains for larger engine higher HP bikes that are obviously a lot better and more expensive product but way worth the price difference in most cases as they are made with better materials...common sense I guess. Renthal chains are about as tough as they come in my experience....

This video is worthless because you don’t specify what type of JT chain, what motorcycle you put it on, if that motorcycle was stock power and gearing, and if you cleaned and lubed every 500 miles. Also that sprocket appears to be aluminum, if it was a steel sprocket it would easily get 20, 000 miles on it. Any aluminum sprocket won’t last long compared to a steel. WHAT TYPE OF CHAIN WAS THIS? X1R? Z3? If you put an X1R chain on a Hayabusa then duh it would last 4000 miles. Also I cannot see any proof that EITHER the chain OR the sprocket is actually a JT brand, then again I am watching on my phone with poor quality.

My JT Chain just snapped and destroyed my bike. Now I realize the constant stretching and adjusting was a bad sign. I'm 50 and ride like a 50 year old on a 650 Versys. Only had a year and a half on it in Canada. Short season. Not cool. My riding buddy put one on his VStrom 1000 same time I did and it snapped the first few months. Luckily he just lost a sprocket bearing and shaft.

good video, thanks! My experience with JT sprockets has NOT been good....have used them on my 2009 DR650 Suzook and NEVER AGAIN will I install another JT sprocket on any one of my several bikes. I always use DID chains, or RK on my GSX1250 Suzook, so cannot speak to the quality and durability of JT chains. Based on my experiences with their junk-level sprockets == and the commentary in your video -- I will certainly not buy a JT chain. Sadly, JT seems to be rather widely regarded as a high-quality product, but my experience indicates otherwise. Many thanks for the useful video! - Jim W.

There's similar videos on RK chains and DID chains. Wouldn't surprise me if there's fakes out there.

I used a JT years ago on a VStrom and had to adjust every other day. terrible chains. DID works good for me. Get 25 to 30, 000 miles with a DID. JT didn't go 1, 000 miles
