No bully the Willie. She's a _Fletcher_ and therefore adorable and she shoots down planes like no tomorrow.

So you almost sink the Navy's flag ship with the Commander in Chief of the US, and they yell at you for missing? XD

Legend has it that the president even asked to be moved to the side of the ship where the torpedo was incoming so he could get a better view...

I heard that the destroyer detonated a torp on a shot down aircraft when trying to rescue the pilot and was sunk by it later in the war. Most unlucky ship ever.

You know, she may not have been the luckiest ship in the navy, but it was very fortunate and lucky that she didn't lose a single crewmember when she sank

If it was one of those MK 14 torpedoes from early on in the war, they wouldn't have needed to dodge it. Those suckers are notorious for being duds. They were nothing but over sized metal bats.

FDR loves his Sailors boy(navy) like his own precious jewel since Pearl Harbor attack which break his heart. He was Sacretary of the Navy before he was president.
