When I was a teenager, I asked my dad “what were you like when you were my age?”.

The basis of his response: “I was just like you. I loved music and movies. I cared about people and the environment. I wanted to have fun with my friends and family. You don’t know much about the world yet, but follow your heart and the world will be a better place.”

We can find reasons to hate on the next generation, but we need to listen to them. They are the future.

The Daily Show is a great laugh at serious subjects & still gets people thinking. An under appreciated part of the show however is the outstanding interview talent of Desi, Jordan & of course John, & the quality of the guests they choose to have a conversation with.

Now that he brought it up, I can only think of one other YA book that looks at puberty from a boy's POV. Judy Blume's "Then Again Maybe I Won't" I think I'll read Reynolds book and reread Blume's.

I love Jason Reynolds! I read "Long Way Down" my first year in college and I've been haunted by the final page ever since. The world needs more authors and poets that just radiate their coolness like Reynolds does
