As a Pelicans fan I can say these 6yrs with him have felt like 20yrs with ZERO to show for it.😔

Cut cut cut cut. The hard choice always the right choice.

Not many athletes peak at the age of 12 like he did. YouTube was the worst thing that ever happened to his career. He doesn't put the work in and relied on the hype around him and we are seeing the fruits of that now. Another example of why there should be no guaranteed contracts.

I wouldn’t even trade two first round picks for him and matching salary. Which is wild to say. 2 years ago it would have been 5 first round picks and multiple young players

You TOTALLY had me with the logic right up until you came to the conclusion of cutting him. There’s absolutely NO way that A) that’s the right choice or B) that the Pelicans will ever decide to do that.

Based on this logic Embiid should be cut too 😂

Zion tried to warn them at draft day he wanted to be in NY

Drafted ZW like a fool in a big $ Fantasy League, listened to all the false reports how in great shape, lighter than ever & eager to prove the league wrong. Never again will I draft him, such a disappointment year after year the same narrative.

Positive spin for Zion situation:

This is a wasted potential story for the ages, as per the sports world.
I can't even imagine what it must feel like as a pelicans fan, even though I can as I am a bulls fan. But everything has its own slant.
The message of how he just doesn't seem to have been doing the work has been so strong.
My hope is this resonates in the subconscious of talented young ball players.
In the same way that everybody wanted to be like Mike when I was young, hopefully nobody will want to be like Zion.

can't believe that genuine sports journalists are having this conversation 🤦🏽‍♂.

Why don’t the Pelicans get more criticism for their training and medical staff?! Their players across the board are always injured, not just Zion! He just gets blame because he’s the best player. There needs to be more blame placed on the organization!

He's definitely had bad game participation throughout his career. But he is statistically very good (career 24.6/6.6/4.2 58.7% from the field) and still only 24.

To wave him would be stupid, that's just throwing away free value. To trade him wouldn't make a ton of sense, as that would suggest that New Orleans knows something about Zion that the other 29 teams don't (they know. If you know, they know). The only logical scenario where you can put together a trade where both teams are happy is if you trade Zion to a team that needs components right now / soon, and New Orleans receives components who won't be developing for a few more years. For example, sending him to the #3-ranked Houston Rockets in exchange for Reed Sheppard (who they recently drafted third pick, and who isn't ready for a playoff run just yet, but I'm not sure if there's rules against trading players under rookie contracts). Or perhaps sending him to the #1-seeded Thunder for Nikola Topic (who they just drafted 12th pick).

They should cut him. Trading him is not going to get any value... no one is trading a star for him.

Getting him on the court is only going to make things worse. He'll be fatter and even less desirable.

Cutting him would also be a hard lesson for the next diva.
