First job out of college I wrote disk driver code for this beast... My job was to update the driver for the new Seagate 5MB hard disk.

The memory architecture was very difficult to do system programming on since it bank-switched out chunks of memory.

It was a beautiful machine. So great to see one still running. Thanks for sharing!

Wow. Not a desktop computer, but a computer desk.

This revives so many memories from the 1980s, when I made a living from programming these lovely beasts!

I have an HP-25 Calculator from 1977 that still works, but this is more amazing. Hewlett Packard started making test equipment like scopes and meters. They tend to make stuff that works forever.

I worked with HP 250 when I was a Systems Engineer at HP in the early 80s. They were fabulous systems.

Retro Sci-fi vibes like being in the original Alien movie. I could totally see Elen Ripley using something like this on the Nostromo.

Imagine the high-end system you could make out of this with modern components.

I like how there is a modern day computer just sitting on top of it.😀

Wow! Beautiful! Noisy as hell, but being from 78, it is forgiven. Just put a good old vinyl and you're good.

old computers like this are a thing of beauty for their unique visual design language but also a thing of laughter at the thought that my watch literally has more computing power then 100 of those things put together.

Interesting screen aspect ratio for a computer from that time period. Also, nice computer collection.

"The HP 250 was designed to be a user-installable, multi-user system. It ran BASIC system software and could support up to 10 users. The original 250 came with an expansive cabinet that included a keyboard built in to the desktop and a terminal monitor that could slide along the desktop and swivel. The 250 came standard with 32K RAM expandable to 64K, dual eight inch floppy drives, HP-IB interface and a 2631A printer. The 250 used an HP-designed, 16-bit NMOS processor. Later part numbers for the 250 included 45252A, 45251B and 45260A."

That's a strange computer...it was based on HP 2100 architecture and designed to be programmed in BASIC.

That is awesome. I wish I had one, but I have no place to put such a piece.
