When most people think about Wiccans, they think of devil worship, black magic, and curses. After all, don't Wiccan's worship a horned god and cast spells? The answer is a little complicated. While many of the beliefs and rituals of Wicca come from ancient practices, the religion itself is very young.

Another Wiccan initiate here. I agree with the majority of commenters, this is great and deserving of much more engagement. You grasped the core characteristic of Wicca well - its inherent diversity. There aren't only multiple traditions within Wicca, also, all the Covens (and certainly initiates without a Coven) are autonomous and free to forge their way in the Craft as they see fit. We are quite a diverse bunch and certainly open to diverse seekers!

I try to keep an open mind about this kind of stuff although I have never seen or heard of a wiccan witch etc... I am not sure what to believe in. I am relieved that this idea revolves around nature and the positive outcome of what it can do.

I was raised JW but only attended because I was told too by my parents but that's not where I felt at home . I don't really have a definite spiritual home and blend of celtic wiccan and Norse spirituality I see myself. Side note I hear the fay talking to me even as I type this out, just wish I could understand them.

In wicca there is black magic but wiccans do not see black magic as evil instead to them it's pretty much like any other form of magic so according to wiccans magic does what you want it to do regardless of color. Satan worship is not an objective descriptor. It is entirely from the viewpoint of a Christian or Christian based faith, and therefore if you define something as devil worship or not, you need to use their definition, not yours. In Christianity, if you find a path towards a higher existence that's not through Jesus and that specific god; for example, seeking enlightenment through worship of another god/gods or through the path of knowledge/gnosis. Not that I give any respect to either side, Christians have become incestually corrupt and wicca is a cry for attention, but lets be clear, by the only definition of devil worship there is, this is it. Satan doesn't translate to pagan cleanly, you need to break it down to the symbolism involved.

Look at the big blue book. It's ok to incorporate BDSM into your practice... It is not ok to use it as an initiation right and expect that this is ok under your religious leaders. The boundaries of consent are contorted in a way that is not healthy. Consent is everything. I will die on this train and I am a Celtic Pagan Reconstructionist.
