I simply compare the specifications, i drill a lot of steel repetetivley and need something powerful and heavy duty so bought a dcd 999 to run with a 9amp flexvolt battery.

Superb and runs like a mains drill in terms of power and tourq.

Well the DCD805 you are showing has 15 torque settings but the one I was sent has 14. An extra line after 13 then the drill like the 796. Contacted them and they said that's how it's supposed to be, where did you get your one. I'm in the UK

TBH - there seems to be way too much choice - surely they need like 3 drills... entry level, a mid range and a beast for the top.
Having 500 versions makes it impossible to pick what you need.

Don't wast the DCD999for woodworking. It is excellent to drill ins steel. The chuck can easily hold a tap drill. Amazing how it grabs the hardened shank.

Dcd 796 is garbage. I've gone through 2 within a year. They go on hammer and never come off

Dewalt have the worst drill and driver combination package. A compact 850 driver with a massive 999 drill.
