Modak Recipe - Only 10 Minutes Quick & Easy Modak – Ganesh Chaturthi Special Besan Modak
Modak is an Indian sweet dumpling dish popular in many Indian states and cultures. It is a traditional Maharashtrian delicacy made during Ganesh Chaturthi Festival.
Let’s see recipe of Modak with Besan.
Ingredients:
1. 4 Tbsp. Ghee
2. 1 Cup/150 Gm Gram Flour / Besan
3. 1 Cups Sugar
4. 1 Cup Milk (Boiled)
5. Saffron
6. 1/2 Tsp Cardamom Powder
7. 1/2 Cup Amul Spray Milk Powder
8. 1/2 Cup Grated Coconut
9. 2 Tbsp. Jaggery
10. Chopped Almonds
11. Chopped Cashew Nuts
12. Saffron
13. Pistachio
14. Food Color
15. Edible Silver Leaf
How to make Besan Modak: -
1. At first heat up a pan and add 4 tbsp ghee.
2. When the ghee melts turn the flame to low and add 1 cup/150 gm gram flour.
3. Stir continuously and fry the gram flour on low flame patiently for 7-8 mins.
4. When you get a nice aroma add 1 cups sugar and mix well.
5. Then add 1 cup milk (boiled) and mix well.
6. Stir continuously and cook on low flame so there are no lumps in it.
7. After a while when the mixture gets thick add saffron milk,1/2 tsp cardamom powder and mix well.
8. When the mixture is not sticking to the kadai anymore turn off your ovenand add 1/2 cup Amul spray milk powder.
9. Mix well then stir continuously and cook for 2-3 mins on low flame.
10. After 3-4 mins turn off your oven and put it in a separate bowl to cool it down a bit.
11. In the meantime, to make the stuffing again take the pan and add 1/2 cup grated coconut, 2 tbsp jaggery.
12. Sprinkle little bit water and cook on low flame while stirring continuously.
13. After a while add chopped almonds, chopped cashew nuts and cook till the water dries out.
14. After 4-5 mins when the water dries out completely and oil comes out of itthen the stuffing is ready.
15. Turn off your oven and put it in a separate container.
16. Then take a modak mold (you can buy it online or from your local market) and Brush ghee in the mold.
17. Close the mold and add some gram flour mixture, don't fill up completely.
18. Then make a hole in the middle with your finger and press around the sides.
19. Add the stuffing inside and seal the mouth with gram flour mixture.Stuff properly and make the bottom smooth.
20. Then open the mold carefully.
21. Make the modaks like this one by one and grease the mold every single time.
22. Now let's see how to make modak without the mold.
23. Grease ghee in your hand, take little bit of that mixture and make a ball.
24. Make a hole in the middle and add the stuffing.
25. Then again roll with your hands to seal the mouth properly.
26. Make the top side pointy like the mold ones and make a design with a spoon.
27. Now your Ganesh Chaturthi special Modak is ready.
