Chad provides a lesson on Single Slit Diffraction and Diffraction Gratings. The lesson begins with a derivation of the formula for determining the dark fringes in single slit diffraction. A single slit diffraction problem is then solved showing how single slit diffraction can be used to determine the wavelength of light.

Next, Diffraction gratings are covered, and the formula for the bright fringes is derived showing similarities to Double Slit Interference. The lesson concludes with the solving of a diffraction grating problem showing that diffraction gratings can also be used to determine the wavelength of light.

You’ve gotten me through OChem 1 and 2 now you’ve gotten me through physics 1 and 2. Can’t thank you enough! God bless!

Thanks for the help, my professor thought it would be fun to not teach us this but put it on our final

The most important part is missing from your video, in the 2 slit experiment, light has to be both monochromatic and coherent, however, in the diffraction grating experiment it only needs to be monochromatic..!
