A little background about the show:
This is Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL, for short) - translated as Champion Song Award. It is a song competition, where the songs, composers are in competition. This is the grand final amongst 12 songs for the year 2019. It is in its 34th year.

Song background:
Aku Bersuara means I Voice Out.
She voiced out her opinion, feelings and emotions. This song is about women voicing out against abuse.

Ernie's performance concept:
She was draped or cloaked in a "cocoon" of abuse or being victim before she spoke out or voice out into her suit, which resembles a butterfly, where she is or feels liberated.

Extra info:
Apart from awarding Champion song, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up, there are also two additional awards for Best Performance and Best Vocals.

The controversy of AJL34:
Unfortunately, after that performance, she was expected to be awarded at least with Best Vocals.. and she didn't.. and the Head Judge (who is NOT a vocal teacher) cannot properly justify why she didn't get the Best Vocal. He said the recipient that night had more feel or emotions in conveying his song! No one can comprehend that reason.. and everyone is enraged with this result and the head judge's justification!

Aku Bersuara was also not recognized in the Song category as well.

For 2017, Ernie won Best Vocal in AJL32 for the song "Aku Cinta" together with Syamel (The composer for both Ku Bersuara and Aku Cinta). You can check that out.

She is relatively "new" in the Malaysian mainstream music industry. She started music around 2010 in competitions and gained notice probably 2015/16.

She is very skilled and experienced, her techniques are flawless too, I love the part when she held a note for so long as if her lungs has endless air supply, a lot of belting and her voice is still maintaining its resonance and not forgetting her powerful head voice as if I'm watching Cynthia Erivo but slightly abit lower...bravo for the very good vocal performance, 👏👏 (I know she can do whistle but rather chose clean flageolet with that level of mastery, for me personally she's more proficient towards skills and techniques plus agility in those switchings) once more bravo, very well done 👏👏
