It's time for summer vacation! ☀️ So I'm taking a step back from serious running and taking things slow.... and getting ready for the Leadville 100 ultramarathon.

In this video, I'll recap my spring half-marathon at the NYRR Brooklyn Half Marathon, share what it was like jumping from a road half into a 50-mile trail race in the San Juan mountains of Colorado, and a preview of Hope Pass, the high point of the Leadville 100 trail ultra marathon race course.

"Summer of Slowness" (training for Leadville 100) series:

Thanks to Sage for randomly filming, otherwise there'd be no video. Be sure to follow Sage:

Excellent news. Embrace the slow. I’m volunteering at Leadville. I’ll have a giant Kipchoge poster ready for you at Twin Lakes Aid Station. Only a matter of time until the Greatest turns up for some Ultra Greatness.

Can I really be the first person to comment pointing out that the blue T-Shirt Steven wears when talking to us in this video bears the prominent text "The San Juan Solstice 50 Mile Run, Lake City, Colorado 2024" ? Dude totally honored the June High Altitude 50 mile race's request to keep their name out of this! Good luck in Leadville and everyone say hi to my buddy Joe Chernowski as he runs Leadville 100 this August.

Trail running is where the slow runners always end up. I should know. I just signed up for my first trail race.

Excellent video, that was fun to watch! I'm training for the Ute 100!! Also, super cool to see Sage so involved in your training, if he does that for all his clients then count me in! (DISCLAIMER: I'm already a huge fan of Sage and Higher Running, was great to see him in this vid)

Man, I wish you all the best for the race, I'm training for sub 24 hrs as well and i hope everything goes fine, my goals are pretty aligned with yours ahaha, so, I hope to see you prior the race and have some coffee. Pretty cool fact is that Sage and Sandy were my first real coaches, they brought me to this point of time and it's a blast to see him helping you!

So previous hints about becoming a trail runner were Serious after all! This was thoroughly entertaining, just the right length, and I had no temptation whatsoever to unsubscribe, let alone skip to Eva. Good luck with Leadville. If you get into WSER, my coach has been asking me for years if I want to volunteer there. He’s managed the finish line for a long time but is pivoting to managing an aid station. I’ll accept if you get in.
