I'm guessing bad blood between Alador and Darius developed after the tournament, and Odalia eventually lost sight of how to, you know, be a good person once Blight Industries took off.

My current theory is it has to do with Odalia. I think Darius saw how shitty she was and tried to talk to Alador about it, but Odalia manipulated him out of the picture in a way that made them angry at each other. Hence, with her out of the picture they started getting close again.

I think it was because of the nominations themselves. Throughout the show Odalia and Alador seem to be the only ones who turn abominations into bodyguards by mixing them with machinery. Something about this might’ve upset Darius, a very skilled abominations user who modified his own body rather than tech. This is likely why Darius calls Alador a hack. I assume this escalated due to Odalia’s manipulation and plain old pettiness plus the fact there was probably already a history of friendly rivalry. Not to mention Darius’s flair for the dramatic and Alador’s lack of care for social cues. Thus their relationship in the show.

Darius never liked the idea of the abominations as robots, I think it was because he saw the art taken away just for it to be some kind of super weapon. That’s probably where it went wrong.

I have a long analysis of the connection between Eda, Lilith, Raine, Odalia, Alador, Darius, and Perry Porter, but for here I'll just put what I have for Alador, Darius, and Odalia:

Ok, so we know from Eda's dialogue that there was seven months between the events of Them's the Breaks, Kid and the tryouts for the Emperor's Coven. At this time Alador, Odalia, and Darius were all friends with each other as when sitting together on the steps Darius (who at this time has green eyes just like his present day self) flicks an abomination blob at Alador, but instead of him getting angry all three laugh showing it was all in good fun.

Despite only seven months passing, something clearly has happened to the friendship of Alador, Odalia, and Darius, as Alador and Odalia are on one far side while Darius is sitting on the exact opposite side with his arms crossed.

For the Alador-Odalia-Darius friendship, it could be argued that after school, with Darius starting to work for the Emperor that he and Alador's friendly rivalry turned not so friendly and that's what lead to the line from Darius "tell Alador he's a hack" and while that could partially be true, I think the initial friendship lose did not start after school, but during that seven month period. Just look at where they're sitting in the podium, not ony are they not sitting together like you think close friends would, but they are sitting as far as they possibly can from each other. Something happened in those seven months, something that exiled Darius from the group and upset him so much that he spent the next 30 years trying to one-up Alador any chance he got. I can't be 100% sure, but I think this is Odalia's fault, we already know how manipulative she is, and as an Oracle she'd be able to access enough future knowledge to manipulate a falling out between the two men that was so big it stayed fueled for decades. The only problem is I can't see why, wouldn't it be better for her to keep two really gifted witches close two her, as Willow said Abomination witches have better opportunities and look where the two men ended up, Darius as a Coven Leader and Alador as head of the biggest security company in the isles. I hope he learn what happened after Odalia was out of Alador's life.

I think Alador chose Odalia instead of him so Darius resented him, OR they were competitive because they’re in the same track.

You can see Darius doing a thumb down (and probably booing since he got his mouth open) in the crowd when Alador was holding the “CHAMP” belt. Maybe Darius was jealous? But whatever the problem was it’s nice to see that they are a ship now! <3

my theory is that alador and darius used to date but alador was arranged to marry odalia who just went along with it so alador had to break up with darius without telling him why and darius was upset
