As a former Neuroscience PhD Student, let me tell you sth about Academia ... don't go there expecting a nice opportunity and collaborations with like minded people on interesting scientific questions that drive you ... that is not the case for the majority of students ... You see Richard Dawkins and Lawrence Krausses of the world on youtube but that's not what you get when you join the club :)) I wish someone had told me that science/philosophy is entirely different from "Academia" ... and in certain cases, they are possibly mutually exclusive

Dr. Krauss, Dr. Saad.. What an absolutely wonderful conversation!. Dr. Krauss.. I watched your video, "Is Woke Science the Only Science Allowed in Academia".. and found it extraordinarily valuable in the granularity of your observations regarding the woke encroachment into the hard sciences... Extraordinarily valuable. I've been actively engaged in the defense of our classically liberal, pluralistic, merittocratic foundation of our society and culture. I found really good examples and evidence of this encroachment into mathematics... I was having difficulty with physics, biology and chemistry.. Just want to today how important this information has been over these past few months.. When I engaged to bake I have to know everything.. because I will get gaslighted... Be told there is no evidence your baseless treacherous fraudulent genocidele accusations...

Dr. Saad, I've been following you almost 2 years now.. I've enjoyed studying and tinkering with operating philosophy and tactics when engaging in These schizophrenic temper tantrums the passes for discourse nowadays. I've taken a similar approach, tentatively called the Swiftian model. Projects will generally align with the parameters of Swift's "A Modest Proposal".

I've launched a few salvos already..

My latest idea... Accuse and reflexively condemn the "alphabet numerical sideways exclamation points" of the most vile and sinister wave of misogyny our society has ever experienced... Fourth wave anti-feminism is a sinister plot to utilize trans women infiltration and colonization the so-called female sex... stripping cis-women of all their recently achieved gains... liberty, equality and so forth.. over the past 100 years.... Once objectives are complete, Men will have restored the patriarchy and resumed its proper societal role of male dominated control, oppression and our subjugation of all aspects of our society... They want to put women back in chains.. chains of the kitchen and the home... And the children..

Okay, I'm rambling.. again, thank you both. Would encourage further periodic discussions between the two of you...

It seems to me the dismissive attitude of Krauss and many other scientists toward philosophy is based on wilful ignorance and a misunderstanding of its proper role. He implies philosophy is subordinate to science and is only useful to the extent it facilitates the scientific enterprise which is a gross misrepresentation to say the least. To borrow a phrase from Gad, engaging honestly with the subject matter of philosophy is, in a very real sense, a lesson in epistemological humility. I suspect that's the real reason for Krauss's prejudice.

Dr. Krauss quit a former job he had to due to multiple sexual assault and sexual harassment allegations. He seems like a charismatic, intelligent man, but the things said about him are hard to reconcile.

I do physics because it is easy. I agree as a physicist. I often say that you could almost define physics as the easiest science, followed by chemistry, then biology, and then after that you are really lost from first principles.

ive been waiting for this collab for a long time especially since both Lawrence and Gad haven't always seen eye-to-eye. both of their views aren't static and have dynamically converged in a lot of ways over the years.

Gad is completely right: sociology is a great science but parts of it are complete pseudoscience due to idea pathogenes having infested them and allowed the governing bodies to see them as equal or even preferred status as the scientific parts that have conscilience with other fields. I am a student in what labeled as humanities, social and cultural sciences fields but also keenly interested in natural sciences, especially biology with focuses on evolution and ecology. Most profs in the the non-natural field don't know the high school basics of biology anymore and it isn't just ideologues. A prof in political sociology with his own focus being Pierre Bordieux seriously believed in social circumstances being able to change biology of the individual and when he saw my visible disbelief, he was generally curious about what I had to say so he invited me in his office after class. He simply didn't know anything other than the social constructivist view. A just as shocking discovery is that profs who do "critical" and "discursive" approaches are completely oblivious about the explicitly political aims of the people who started these fields such as the activism of Foucault, who wanted to legalise adult-child interactions, or the origin of gender theory by John Money and his abusive experiments. These profs had been taught these ideas as factual without learning about the origins and intentions. They see it as valid "lenses" to view the world. Of course, I've also been yelled at by ideologues. One guest prof for some single lectures freaked out during the questions round after his talk about new research aboutvthe Etrurians when I asked if all those recently found texts showed light on the question where they or at least their language originated as it seemed and isolate language. He yelled about politics, xenophobia and how that shouldn't even be asked. That part even shocked the head prof for antiquity, who defended me. The guest was visibly angry by being merely asked for a linguistic classification and his face showed it. After it, I mocked him in his face by saying that he has a rather fascist attitude towards research by wanting to shut down complete fields of enquiry.
