Glad to see somebody reviewing Vincent. Interested in their integrated tube solid state hybrids. I'm beginning to think two systems would be optimal. Tubes for acoustical, vocals, Jazz and such. Solid state for loud Rock. Been considering upgrading for 6 years now! But when I have a properly mastered recording, I never find myself wanting anything better/ different in my sound system. Reading reviews gives me the upgrade itis itch, listening to my stereo cancels it! 1998 Technics sl 1200 MK5, 2m black cartridge in sumiko head shell, project tube box s phono preamp, audioquest interconnects, Onkyo tx8511 AVR, 3-way 300 W floor standing Cerwin Vega e712s and aperion super tweeters. Receiver has tens of thousands hours of use on it and is driven hard, gets hot! It has been and continues to be a Workhorse. It's sound is dramatically improved with my 30-year-old Technics graphic equalizer. My Onkyo six disc CD player has been 100% trouble-free also with tens of thousands of hours use. One review I read on the Onkyo tx8511 AVR said he had to spend over $2, 000 to achieve better Sound. Not sure I'm ready to spend $2, 000 to $4, 000 to replace something that sounds great and is trouble free. I could buy a nice used 2-stroke dirt bike or two for that price! And the thrill of a two-stroke Power Band is incomparable, one hell of a adrenaline rush! Since I don't have a dirt bike because the last two were stolen from me, I will probably purchase a dirt bike instead of stereo equipment. But purchasing vinyl albums has been breaking my wallet!

… now in a nutshell my phones battery died and this Vincent is a bargain from top to bottom. Sweet top end, open and engaging midrange, plenty of bass quality and quantity. It is dynamic and it is rich when it comes to tonal colours. 👌👌👌

Im trying to pair the best amp i can for my newly refurbished Epos Es11's. It took me a month of weekends but i finally finished them. I have $600 for the amp. Its going to replace an Anthem Integrated 225 that does NOT pair well with the Epos. I have the options of an amazing preamp with a huge Class A 80 watt power amp. I can get a Chinese clone Naim 250 with the preamp. I can get a Densen beat b-300 with that preamp. Or a Vincent Sv500. All options are same price. Dont know what way to go. I just need it to have amazing synergy with my ES11'S. I cant choose lol

Hi and thanks a lot for the comprehensive review ! How would you compare the SV-500 and the Technics SU-G700 in tone, dynamics and detail ? I’d love to hear your opinion. Is the Technics a step up ? Liebe Grüsse, Michael

Digital Philosopher, I think you are right about this DAC. It has an excessive emphasis on the midrange, I guess more than how Vincent tunes the analogue part of their amps. And indeed, at the same time parts of the music spectrum is lost, like the midrange is emphasized but at the same time flattened. I can illustrate this with a cd, ‘The Very Best of the The Eagles’, it’s an digitally remastered album released by Elektra. On my neutral Hegel H95 this album sounds just the way I love it, with a lush, creamy and rich midrange. Especially the song One of these Nights sounds to die for. To make this clear, this is not to the credit of the (neutral sounding) Hegel, but how the album is tuned. However, through the DAC of the SV-500, exactly this creamy and rich midrange is almost gone, it sounds utterly recessed, hollow and flat. All that goodness that I love gone, yikes!
It’s about time I upgrade my CD-transport so I am considering the CD S1.2 by Vincent. This is actually a tube-based digital hub, with digital inputs for say a streamer, a Sanyo cd mechanism etc. Plus the burr brown 1796 DAC and circuitry from their original separate component DAC 1.
Digital Philosopher, do you have any thoughts and input about pairing the analogue part of the SV-500 with the digital S1.2-hub? Any thoughts what its synergy may sound like? Anyways, all the best DP, kind regards Gerlach Sven.

Hallo!
