Doncaster Cables introduces EarthSure, a groundbreaking innovation in electrical cables.

This revolutionary Twin & Earth cable comes with a fully-sleeved earth conductor, eliminating the need for electricians to manually sleeve the earth wire.

Remarkably, EarthSure maintains the exact dimensions, performance, and approvals of regular BS6004 T&E cables, ensuring seamless integration into existing installations. This convenient solution streamlines the installation process without compromising safety or performance.

Here in germany we never had uninsulated core😂

Here in the United States, we don’t sleeve the grounding conductor on this type of cable, we leave it bare. I don’t think it’s a big deal at outlets and switches but I don’t like having long pieces of bare wires in the breaker panel, especially near live 200 amp bus bars.

Meanwhile we have had fully insulated earths since at least the late 1970's here in Australia, also, no solid core unless its 1mm2

One minute it’s called a earth wire then the next it’s a CPC
But as the manufacturer calls it a earth wire that’s good enough for me

In Ireland the earth wire is also 2.5 and it is also sheathed.

Wow, revolutionary. Welcome to the present, dear UK

Its better to have the earth bare with in the cable. If the cable gets damaged and the live or neutral gets exposed, it will short against the earth and trip out the breakers, rcd, etc.

Our earth conductors where covered with metric introduction in the late seventies in Australia. Earth conductor sizes where increased to match 1.00mm 1.5 mm and 2.5 mm2 inlaid TPS removing the need for earth conductor sleeving called nylex tubing back then. Seeing bare earth conductors is rare unless it's very large installations or substations.

A solution to a problem which really isn't a problem.

Been in Australia since the 70s. Mates who live over there told me about it years ago. Irish Driver Harris used to make it too

Why do you need a fully insulated earth? It is a protection wire. If power manages to get anywhere and touches it, a circuit (should) trip. Now that it is fully insulated nothing will trip if energized water splashes about. Sounds less safe to me.

I`ve literally just did my house in a full rewire (2023). i had to buy earth sleeving in a 100mtr roll. i used about 4mtrs of it..

Nah, I like pulling the bare CPC conductor to strip off the outer sheath 😂😂😂

what is the benefit of insulating the grounding conductor
here in the US we leave it bare unless you are using conduit/pipe, bare in non metalic sheathed like in this video

the idea is if anything ever comes loose even in a retrofit plastic box, it will trip the breaker (ground is neutral bonded here) or trip a GFCI/AFCI as soon as it touches any of the grounds in your box

Anyone done a nail test on this? Like if you drive a nail trough energised T&E is it more likely to make contact with an unsheathed CPC and therefore safer not to coat it?

Just checking the date before I comment. Looks good, what's the cost comparison?

I thought that we've always had fully sleeved earthing cables here in the UK? Whenever I take off socket or switch covers, the earth is always sleeved and it appears to run through the entire cable.

Even on light fittings, I've never seen a bare copper wire directly from the manufacturer on the fitting to signify an earth cable.
