Alex hit it on the head with this video. I think that the current car scene is really more about saying I have this or I have that and honestly just flexing. There is obviously the different parts to the car culture than just that, such as the tuner scene and all that, but as a whole people are honestly just out here trying to flex and have the best looking car. I personally look more for function than form. I want something to look good, but I will sacrifice the best look possible for the best performance I can get. I like the stats for cars: best track time, largest horsepower, cornering speeds, downforce, torque, and everything else. My style is hard cut lines, which luckily for myself, is what a lot of the functional mods come with. So all in all, yes I think multi-piece wheels are just hype; if you are looking at the regular car scene. They have function but it's a very specific function.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head in this video. Its just to show off wealth ya know. Same as people buying supreme or anti social club. It literally isnt stylish or crazy. But the price tag and the fact that many know the price tag is what drives people. Your basically a show off. Theres no easy way to put it. Theres nothing wrong with it. You do you. But its just another expensive piece to say you have on your car. Of course it provides style but to what extent. And if theres something that can provide the same but cheaper then your just showing off wealth rather showing off your style. If i go in depth you can refer it to "fuck you money" but the problem is many people try to say they have that kind of money by buying these impractical things but ya get the jist. My advice if your rich (or more of if you have miney to waste) do what you want. If your on a budget dont lie to yourself, especially when you can buy better things with the same effect. But thats my advice live how you like to live. Its one life do what makes you feel happy.

Multi piece wheels are not hype but too much "sheep's" think you need a really expensive wheels to be cool when there's a lot of different companys make good looking one piece wheels that cost half of the price.

Personal don’t ever see myself running multi piece wheels on my STI for a few reason.
1. Don’t plan on going wide body so don’t need anything super wide or with a huge offset.
2. Style. People are doing crazy/awesome things with multi piece wheels but I’m looking for simpler styling like Rotiform SIX’s or ESR SR07’s
3. Price. Don’t need to spend 4-6 times as much just to be in the cool club

I love multi piece wheels. You could replace the lips and barrels if damaged for cheap. Worth it from my experience.

Multipiece wheels look good on higher end cars or wide-bodied cars. Stock body sport compacts don't need multipiece wheels with slanty boi fitment

You can get used multi piece wheels for the same price as rep wheels. I picked up a set of 3 piece hoshino impul rs for 850. In the end, not over hyped everyone just buys for their budget imo.

100% hype. Its 99% style and 1% function/racing. If not racing, the only reason they buy 3 piece wheels, is to tell others that they have 3 piece wheels. Build your car whatever way you want. Its your money. But we know the truth....

I love multi piece wheels, I recently sold my left arm, right leg, and my kidney to afford 1 wheel😊

I’d rather have decent rotary forged wheels with expensive grippy ass tires

One of my buddies has a stanced toyota chaser and having multi piece wheels made it possible to have a drop dead gorgeous look.

The only time something is over hyped is when someone on the other side doesn't like it. If you can take something, and re purpose it to fit your needs, and style more power to you. Most of what we see on cars now was originally intended for racing. It's natural to see it progress to the domestic market now. Me personally, I'd get a set of multi piece wheels because I appreciate them for what they are. I couldn't care less who knows they're multi piece.

TLDR - Nah. Saying multi-piece wheels are just hype is like saying coilovers are because of original intent.

I want a set of multipiece wheels because 1 The fitment can be changed after the fact, 2 I like the look and customize ability, and 3 if I curb one or break one somehow odds are really high the face will be fine and for relatively cheap you can get a new lip or barrel put it together and have it look like it never happened. Instead of having the wheel fixed and re powder coated and just hoping that it's a close enough match that nobody will notice

Easy. If i want "wide" (9-10) wheel, multi piece is cheaper option

Good vid Alex. Also include rebuildability in the list of attributes I enjoy with 3pc wheels.
Just finishing a rebuild on my SSR's with a new brushed finish on the faces and new T6061 lips.
It's comforting to know if I damage a lip or barrel it's only a call away from 'good as new'
The elephant in the room is finding antiquated hardware (at least when rebuilding vintage 3pc wheels), the M6 bolts in my SSR's are damn near impossible to find now.

+chrome pink hardware... Heritage wheels tsukuba design o_o the closest thing I can get to super advan racing v2s, I really hope they make a replica forged edition so when I do want to drop my soul on some wheels, it will be the last time in a long time

My reason for liking multi-piece wheels is simple, I like the fact you can rebuild them to whatever spec you like, my other reason is that by favorite wheels of all time are multi-piece
