I'm American. I'm not part Finnish, but i'm part Norwegian fathers side, and part Highland/Isles Scottish, and part Irish! mothers side. Along with a lot of other European ancestries German, Dutch, English, French, Eastern Euro, Baltic, etc. Americans are mutts. Now the Highland/Isles Scottish and Irish are kin, and share DNA, traditions, folklore, music, and the Gaelic tongue. My moms maiden name is of a Norse-Gael origin Clan, that is a mixing of Norwegians and Irish, who lived on the northwest coast and isles of Scotland. This clan remained Catholic, often served as Gallowglass for Irish Lords, and some settled in Ireland. They sided with the Jacobites, many perished, some left to Ireland, others accepted British rule and assimilated became Protestant, some managed to stay Catholic and Gaelic speaking in the remote hamlets and villages of the Isles or in Ireland, while many others left for the New World, and brought their history with them. Today the name is associated with American hamburgers and as an American with ties to the name, I feel like at least a free burger is in order. Love your content on Irish and Nordic stuff. Slainte!
