I think a name change is fine when the name being changed isn't a well known household name. Mark Callaway didn't start off as The Undertaker, Terry Bollea didn't start off as Hulk Hogan

That has changed recently. MCMG, Shawn Spears, Giulia, Stephani Vaquer, some others. I read the only reason Delta couldn't keep hers was because there were trademarking issues in the US regarding that name.

WWE does allow wrestlers to keep their names when they go to different promotions. The made the change earlier this year, pretty much why you see Ricochet using his WWE name in AEW

Yes, in the past that’s what most wrestling promotions did was let guys keep their names when they left. WWF(E), specifically Vince was the one who wrote it into contracts to keep wrestlers name, even if the wrestler held name before coming to Titan or invented their own ring name.
