My thoughts on the Nintendo E3 2021 Direct

The 19 year thing is how long it's been since Metroid Fusion came out, the game that goes before Metroid Dread and the last original 2D/2.5D sidescrolling Metroid game, since Samus Returns was a remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus for the GB.

I think they mentioned dread as the first ORIGINAL metroid in 19 years, since samus returns is a remake

The '19 years' thing was in reference to Fusion, which was the last original 2D Metroid as Samus Returns was a remake.

By the way, Fatal Frame is launching on multiple platforms. The trailer on the Japanese Koei Tecmo channel lists PS, XBOX and Steam among Switch.

The Nintendo show was okay. It was really saved by BotW 2, but for me the microsoft show won overall, it had way more games that interested me.

Calling it "Metroid 5" means we FINALLY get a Post-Fusion game that continues the storyline rather than fill in the gaps.

Damn, I need to get my hands on it.

It bothers me when people talk about E3 like a competition, all these companies are just showing off the projects they've been working on.

I prefer Nintendo's show because most of the stuff there is coming out this year as opposed to 2022, but Microsoft was still great.

Annoyed that they didn’t bring Zelda Wind Waker-Twighlight Princess-OoT and Majoras Mask. Over all i enjoyed it though lots of good ones including classics

NIntendo winning E3 2021 isnt saying much.

Take 2 being the worst in E3 history is.

I liked microsofts the most because it was effectively the PC gaming show. Nintendo did a good job and brought back a lot of old franchises, my big issue though is that Switch crustiness is just holding everything back for me. I can't do sub 30 FPS anymore and the fidelity / resolutions are not great either. A Switch 2 or Switch pro or whatever you want to call it is needed because it is really holding some of these games back.

I remember playing Metroid: Fusion in my bedroom on my old GBA so many years ago! Great game. I can't wait to play Metroid Dread!

Nintendo and Microsoft were definitely the standouts in an otherwise incredibly lack-luster E3.
I can only hope that this is due to Covid related *delays* and that Gamescom and TGS feature a lot more...

What amazes me more of this E3 is how bad the gaming development industry adapted to “the situation”.


Other types of development were already adapted and more than ready by Q4 of last year but it looks that this industry can’t simply migrate themselves. The worse is that this model is here to stay so idk what gaming companies will do but they need to act fast or 2022 will become 2023-24 soon.


That’s what this E3 leaves to me.
