Kemet is one of those games that i probably would have liked a lot more if i'd played the original when it came out. There's some cool stuff in here, but this style of game isn't my favourite anymore. Still, cool powers and giant monsters do elevate into the "very good" category. And if i gave out silver medals for games it would get one. I definitely see why people love it and will play it again. But it's not on my list of "OMG MUST PLAY AGAIN NOW" games.

"The best thing about this game is..." - waiting for that phrase, and the closing clip/joke! 😀

one of the first games I ever got and still in my collection all these years later. Still holds ups despite it being relatively old

Egypt trivia: that kind of curved sword is called a khopesh.

We have the original printing and love its simplicity and fun confrontation. Have often wanted to try is siblings, INIS and Cyclades.

I own the original Kemet, and it's always tickled me that the monster selection are a bunch of supernatural/mythological creatures... and also "these lads from Persia with a completely normal war elephant we hired."

Really love Kemet and all your reviews. The game is tight and tense with many options. My current favourite Egypt themed game is Ankh. Despite the overload of plastic it really does have that rare mix of overbloat balanced with strong strategic choices. Also really like Cyclades and the bidding mechanic.

First time i played was a 4 player game, after second round every one played easily.

I play a lot of multiplayer solo, so any game where I need to play a secret combat card against myself doesn't work very well. That aside, I know another reviewer who seems to love this game. Seems like it's for miniature-happy gamers. There are aspects that look fun, but I'd be Ke-meh about it even without the first issue I mentioned.

Couple of mistakes in this, I think:
- you can't move between matching ports. There's two kinds - military ports (red) can only be moved from. Trade ports (blue) can be moved from but also to. The arrows on each show what's allowed. The move shown (from military, to military) is illegal.
- battle victory points are only awarded for an attacker victory. Defender victories don't score victory points (everyone gets extra veteran tokens instead, which can be spent in the night phase on prayer points, new troops or DI cards)

I don't know if the Mezo piramid building is more readable than dice with numbers

3 Minute Board Games! I'd love to see a list on board games that are 10+ years old but have aged really well. I'm sure your busy, but would love to see both of your opinions on this.

I've been very tempted to buy the older version second hand for half the price of the new version. That said I do own Cyclades (also 2nd hand), which has dice rolls in battles and some reason that just draws me more at the moment.

What is the difference between the two types of harbor?

I do like and own Kemet but I absolutely adore Inis, definitely my favourite looks like dudes on a map wargame but kinda isnt really game (See also Scythe). I do really want to try Cyclades though, I initially rejected it and bought Kemet instead due to the dice based combat but think I may have made the wrong decision.

What does it mean when people call a game “greasy?”
I’ve heard Lords of Hellas being called that by a couple people before, but I don’t understand what it means.

Edit: 3:40 - wait, do you mean Greece or grease?

Really like this game and must say that of the board game minis that I have painted I am most proud of these.

Btw were you blocking blood markers/kills with shields? Cause that ain't right.

Have you played Inis? Similar vein but looks more eurogamey. Very intriguing
