The last chorus on “All the things you are” as played by the amazing virtuoso Alan Pasqua off his record, “My new old friend”
I started this back in February or so of this year and chunked away at it very slowly, finally completing it in July. This is one of the more difficult solos I’ve ever transcribed, mostly because of the way he crosses bar lines and starts phrases on odd beats in the measure. I found it hard to feel in places, and didn’t want to upload video of me playing the full solo until I had pretty much absorbed and could feel what he was doing.
Even after working on this solo for 5 months, it’s still mind-blowing to me. Next I think I’ll do something a bit more traditional!
