What happens to your refrigerator temperature when you open the door? When you leave the door open? I built a data-logging device and stuck it in my fridge for a few hours to find out. I have no idea why I spent a weekend doing this.

I've got a similar project going on, slightly different approach, but using XBee to send the data up to the main PC.
I'm guessing that you power it with the USB powerpack so that is going to have to be exchanged now and again.
My approach was to put all the Arduino stuff outside the fridge with an OLED display and all the sensors etc. in the fridge connected via an FFC (Molex) ribbon cable.
FFC is very thin, stays put and doesn't interfere with the door seal. I also added a computer type fan which is speed controlled to circulate the cold air.
My findings are that standard capillary fridge temperature sensors and motor contacts aren't, unsurprisingly, good with big variations in temperature. Ditching that and using the fan makes a considerable difference to food safety

I actually found it interesting. My wife and I have been having a "discussion" as to whether our fridge is working correctly or not. Building this might convince her that it is (or prove me wrong). A PCB would be nice, even just the file to make one.

As you noted, dry for some I'm sure, but I enjoyed it. Would be interesting to actually get a number for energy/$ cost per second of door opening or whatever.
