Art Pepper - 'Round Midnight

" 'Round Midnight" was first recorded by Cootie Williams in 1944. This arrangement gives free space for Art's superior ability to get inside ballads. Marty Paich said at the time for this recording, "All he needs is a melody that has a little body to it so that he can really express himself. Here I get the feeling that he's really crying."
