Pretty sure Dante mentioned Bradford Pears in The Inferno. Glad to hear there’s a way to redeem them.

Oh my, I laughed so hard at your rants!! Thank you so much for letting me know the tree blooming in my yard right now in TN. I will be using it as root stock! My chickens would not even eat the fruit last year, and they eat everything, lol 😂 Great info!!

We have several Bradford pear stumps that send up a wealth of shoots every year. Our rabbits eat them happily.
I'll be practicing grafting on them this year as well.

Bark grafts have been the most successful for me out of all the grafting methods I have tried. Pears, peaches, apples, nectarines etc.

Our Gorilla Gardening Guru strikes again!!!! Seriously David, this is BRILLIANT!!! I cringe this time of year at all the Bradford Pear in bloom here in Middle TN… What a brilliant idea to use their strength against them, while also allowing them to feed the community. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us, Sensei David!!

Thank you, David, for the follow-up on this. I have a very old pear tree that has hard pears but makes the best pear preserves, I have no clue what it is but I can do this to bring that tree to my property now! Wonderful! 😂🤣, scruges of the South!!!

I have two successful grafts this year. I grafted a Golden Dorset on a Anna apple, as they pollinate one another.

I just went to the Marion county master gardeners thing yesterday and scrubland was there and I got a Rachel Goodman mulberry. I’ve been a fan of yours since middle school I think when you inspired me to get into food forests and now I’m three years on my own property in the scrub. I’m going to try to make it to the thing in April.

This is the best time of the year to take cuttings of woody plants to start new stock. I use sand as my grow medium and once I see roots in the clear nursery pot, it's time to plant them in soil.
I am currently doing some elderberry to increase my orchard. HalleluYAH!!

YAHUAH has blessed us with so much and I am so grateful 💕💕💕 to him and thankful for brothers like you!!

I have bitter high bush blueberries on my property. Worth eating if you find them in the woods but not a good tasting berry. I was going to graft better blueberries but winter was so short and I was so busy that I missed my grafting window. I also have a red (black when ripe) low bush blueberry. I dug one up and gave it to Sam. He is still trying to find out the correct name for it. When I put in my house and driveway as well as my root crop bed I potted up more of those red blueberries. If you want any I can be sure to have some sent your way via Sam or I can drive to Atmore/Pensacola and go to one of the flea markets you sell at in the future.
