We called this years ago on his interview with VladTV. He’s essentially doing what a lot of African leaders do.

1. Borrow money from China (or other country) to invest in projects.

2. Pocket the money and don’t deliver on the projects.

3. China eventually comes to recoup the money they loaned.

4. And when the money can’t be paid back China now owns the assets.

But it doesn’t matter to Akon because in his head “Senegal would fail anyway so I might as well take care of myself and family while I’m here.”
