“I like putting uplifting elements in something that’s moody as fuck. Make them appear for a moment, and then take them away. That’s the sound I love…like embers in the tune…little glowing bits of vocals…they appear for a second, then fade away and you’re left with an empty, sort of air-duct sound…something that’s eerie and empty. Like you’re waiting just inside a newsagent in the rain…a little sanctuary, then you walk out in it. I love that.”

First time I heard this in ‘Bitter Lake’ documentary by Adam Curtis and got sort of hypnotised by this music. And ever since I cherish this absolutely alien unorthodox song and play it when travelling on a train at night staring out of the window… absolute bliss.

I listened to this song today tripping on mushrooms while walking down Broadway in Chicago. It was a stretch of road filled with people, some in shops getting their haircut or selling clothes from their home country, some out on the town with their friends or family, some homeless or facing rotten health luck. "You are not alone, " "don't be afraid, " and "excuse me, I'm lost" all hit me hard. I loved everyone; I came down to them. Usually I keep myself so distant from strangers. But this felt beautiful.

We have all experienced of feeling lost and alone, like we're the only one who has ever felt how we feel. But we sure as hell all deserve to feel love and warmth. I made sure to smile at everyone I saw, especially those who probably don't receive too many smiles from strangers. Beautiful smiles came back to me -- one lady fist bumped me, another laughed, most went about their night. Some scowled. That's OK too, they can be exactly who they are.
