I'm 34 and remember going on this ride as a kid when my summer camp would make its yearly trip to Quassy. Such a basic and slow roller coaster, but it had the added suspense of thinking it might actually fall apart while you were riding. I've been on soo much faster and more extreme rides, but few have made me legit concerned for my life as this one lol.

I used to be terrified of this ride. It would take all day to build up the courage to go on.

This goddamn ride man. All it did was take you up in the air and jerk you around at ninety degree turns. Incredible.

Used to ride this when the fair came to town (50 yr ago). With those wheels in the center you swore at every turn you going right off the track.

I remember this.  They took this ride down because it was so old and it was never referbished.  Plus the Car kept jumping off the tracks.  If u saw it in person this was like a death trap.  I'm glad they replaced it

This is EXACTLY the same layout as The Monster Mouse when it was at Playland Vancouver before it got replaced by the inferior Wild Mouse, which also no longer exists there. That old Monster Mouse was the very 1st coaster I ever rode and I loved it. I wouldn't be surprised if the 1st drop is the biggest on any Mouse Coaster ever; at 25'. Thanks for the memories!

I rode this roller coaster a few times when it was at Rye Playland as the Monster Mouse. This was from 1973 until 1978.

We had this exact same model coaster in our city-run amusement park for many years while growing up. Such great memories. It was 40 cents to ride (mid-70's.) along with bumper cars, the tilt-a-whirl and a Ferris wheel, it made for a cheap, fun day of recreation.

I rode this back when it was at Rye Playland. The video is just as I remembered it.

Reminds me of a ride in little America located in Marshall Wisconsin. Called the mad mouse also.

I just saw a photo of this Quassy Amusement Park ride in the Roller Coasters book by Todd Throgmorton, came to Youtube, and there you were!  Thanks for a great ride.  Clear view, I almost felt every jolt, and you let the fascinating clack clacks have their way!
Sorry it's gone.

Thank you for the upload!
In my hometown, we had the same coaster at a place called Family Funland. From what I can tell, there are no longer any Allan Herschell Monster Mouses in existence. You've done a great service sir.

Whoa! Back up a min. Was this a franchise ride? We had one in Adelaide, Australia.

The mouse was actually in very good condition.  It was removed to make room for water park expansion.  It was in good shape, and was sold.  from my understanding you will have to go to Mexico to ride it now
