I hate most photos I take, and you should too.

Just wanted to talk about how I've been feeling lately about my photography and the difficulties that come with creating.

Helllooo! Just wanted to say...I have a lot of photos that I really love and am very proud of, but for me to have gotten to those, I had to go through a lot of shoots I wasn't so crazy about. On top of that, I dealt with many outside struggles that at one point, made creating difficult for me. Despite these hurdles, I still choose to keep going.


So I guess what I'm trying to say is take a break when you need it, enjoy the process of shooting, practicing and creating and don't let some bad shoots get to you.

*Taking pics*: woww it looks awesome!
*Looking at them unedited on my laptop/smartphone*: okay good, I can fix it with some editing
*While editing*: uh it looks much better. I think I like it
*After looking at the finished product for 3-4 times*: ok no. It's trash

I never thought of becoming a photographer and have nothing to do with this video but still I like how she shared her experience not only in photography but in everything you have to work for your dream even if you fail multiple times but that's how you will succeed.

This video really cut deep! The unfortunate part of being human is being in a constant upward and downward flow in life, but how we motivate ourselves to pick get us up is what defines who we are. Very nice video that all creatives need to hear 🙌🏽

Jessica, I know what are you talking about, because I've passed this moment too. It was a difficult, different and unhappy moment of my life because I've losted all my desire of photography. But yeah, it's necessary keep practicing and watch videos about it. I want to tell you something...in those moments, think to yourself, your thoughts, make a mini journey, think about what you want, and then..keep going. I wish you the best, xoxo. I didn’t know how much I needed this until I started watching. I’ve been struggling so much with my photography these past few months with similar thoughts that you talked about but felt like no other creator had those feelings about their work and it was just me realizing that I was a complete fraud (but I found out a while ago that maybe there are more people who feel like this) lol

I’m currently studying photography in art school, and I struggle all the time with projects and assignments and inspiration. you’re constantly surrounded by your peers and comparing yourself. it’s incredibly frustrating, but sometimes you get around that curtain and you make work you’re so happy with. it’s all an ebb and flow of creation

Most of the time I feel the exact same way Jessica. I've been taking photo's since 1999 and I have lost count of how many times I have questioned my ability to take photo's, there are many times I just want to throw in the towel and give up, but don't ever give up on your passion and keep trying your best, there will be lows and highs. Thanks for sharing this video, it's great to see other photographers admitting this!!

You bring up a lot of great points here Jessica. As we photographers I think we always need to be critical of our work, even the good shots! If we aren't, then we aren't allowing ourselves to grow and get even better. Being critical of our work is an important part of the drive for success.
