I'm not sure about this video, but it could be many things. Perhaps:

The guy really has no intention to hurt anyone, shown by his hesitance and lack of enthusiasm. So when faced with the opportunity to help someone when thrust into a situation where he is undoubtedly hurting someone, he finds the girl and cuts her down. He sees this as a repent of sorts and runs away - maybe running away from a life of crime.

However, it's entirely possible the entire thing is his imagination. As he tries on his mask, he stares helplessly into the mirror. It doesn't seem to be nighttime, which is when the group of robbers drive away, so maybe he's imagining it all. He's imagining a possible 'good' outcome of his decision to rob the house, where he comes out the hero. After he cuts the rope and runs, we are shown him looking into the mirror again. That is the situation he wants, and hopes for, but he knows it's unlikely - his expression seems pained.
