Jose threw himself under the bus because he didnt get the signings he wanted in that last summer. When he was sacked not a single journo or fan thought it was the wrong decision. He was falling out with everyone. He played McTominay at cb vs weat ham when we lost 3-1 just to make a point because he didnt get a cb. Im not shitting on what jose won for us but lets not pretend that he didnt deserve to be sacked. He even said so himself.

Jose arrived 3 years too late. But he studied the side and came in with a new, on paper incredible spine to the team - fast CB, star in Pogba, skilful Mkhytaryan, Zlatan for dressing room influence. He’d done his homework and hoped they would be winners in terms of mentality. His first few games they scored 4 a few times and played good football.

But the club structure was incredible to him and weak players. And some became injured. So he sussed the writing on the wall fairly quick and ended up a) relying on players he never would have signed (Mata - who he gladly sold, Smalling and Jones, Young, Herrera, Fellaini, Blind, Rojo) to try and get results. And b) he protected himself with a big contract.

Yes he spent some money and they bought some duds. This happens at every club. But then they didn’t get him the players he wanted in the summer and they were in the US tour still after players. If you want to close the gap then more players are constantly needed. That summer he didn’t get supported enough. Doesn’t matter if previously they supported him - you can never stand still. You continually need to bring in new players.

By the end in 2018 his two best players were ones he was desperate to sell - Martial and Shaw. Martial kept him in a job in the autumn, scoring in several games. Shaw should thank Jose for his tough treatment.

Did Jose make mistakes? Of course. But this is what actually happened.

Biggest mistake was not appointing Mourinho right away after Sir Alex retired. He came in at the wrong time, but still did better with a worse team. Manchester United was the club Mourinho wanted to commit to a long term project. Everything him and Ronaldo said about the club is true. United is rotten within.
