‘The Five’: Is DEI dead?

‘The Five’ co-hosts discuss how major tech companies have been quietly ditching their DEI positions and programs.

The number one network in cable, FNC has been the most-watched television news channel for 18 consecutive years. According to a 2020 Brand Keys Consumer Loyalty Engagement Index report, FOX News is the top brand in the country for morning and evening news coverage. A 2019 Suffolk University poll named FOX News as the most trusted source for television news or commentary, while a 2019 Brand Keys Emotion Engagement Analysis survey found that FOX News was the most trusted cable news brand. A 2017 Gallup/Knight Foundation survey also found that among Americans who could name an objective news source, FOX News was the top-cited outlet. Owned by FOX Corporation, FNC is available in nearly 90 million homes and dominates the cable news landscape, routinely notching the top ten programs in the genre.

I worked as a software engineer in a team of ten... all males. We got a new team leader a woman that fired two of our team and brought women in. The one new lady came to my cube and asked me some stuff... she admitted she had NO clue about MVC or C#.... How the hell did she get hired. And her asking me over to cube to show her things constantly brought my productivity down. I finally left the company because of that and told my manager why. I did have another job lined up at that time :)

I undertook DEI training. It was a VERY racialist curriculum. The between-the-lines message was anti-white and anti-colonial. I was offended by the not so subtle message that I am a racist in need of reeducation.

Wow, I wish our school district would get rid of DEI. The "diversity director" constantly goes on about how much she is "needed" because of our "diverse" school district and how there are so many "LGBTQ" students and how "racism" and "white supremacy" are such problems, etc.

DEI should not be a requirement at the expense of competence, skill and knowledge. If you have the skill, knowledge and experience the need for DEI quotas is totally a racist concept.

My wife was asked when applying for a job at the embassy: “what do you think about DEI?” She didn’t know how to answer, said-“I believe in the golden rule and treating people with respect.”

A black woman was hired…as often is the case nowadays. Black women will get the job and are harder to fire. That is where we are at.

Note to all investors - For the bottom line employment should be based on competence not race or gender or quotas.
Offer mentorship programs instead if they can be afforded without hurting profit margins.
