It's odd that Jerry West, who played a majority of his career as a PG, led the league in assists, was a multi-time All NBA defender, and a FMVP is never put in the top 5

People always overlook John Stockton but he’s easily top 5 pgs. I’m happy Boogie mentioned him

The larger question is what makes a point guard great?

Magic, Stockton, Steph, GP, Nash, Kidd, CP, Oscar, Isiah are all in the discussion. Everyone else is clearly a step below that crowd.

Can’t believe he said Westbrook over CP3

Arguably correct that Chris Paul is not top 5. When he was with the Clippers, we used to bet whether or not Chris Paul would choke in the playoffs.

Edit: Paul is the only player to have lost FIVE 2-0 leads in playoffs. He also lost a 3-1 lead in a playoff series. No top players have ever experienced that.

Being Top 5 PG, the Man has to deliver the W by being the floor general. It is amazing how their assist brings up the whole hype and confidence of the team like Magic and Stockton.😊

Paul was 2nd in MVP voting in 2008 and lost because the NBA gave Kobe his lifetime achievement award. He had a Finals appearance, but didn't win, much like Payton, Kidd, Stockton and Westbrook. What separates Paul is his offensive efficiency combined with his defensive capabilities in his prime. No other PG in NBA history has made 11 All-NBA teams AND 9 All-Defensive teams. Say what you want about his postseason performances from 2014-2021, but Chris Paul in his prime was the most complete point guard of all-time. No other PG checks as many boxes: can score from three levels, elite playmaker, elite on-ball defender in his prime, one of the best ball hawks ever and a great leader, especially in New Orleans. He has a case for top five, especially if your fifth is Nash, Kidd, Payton or Westbrook.

Edit: My top five is Magic, Curry, The Big O, Zeke and Stockton, just for the record. I consider West to be mainly a SG or he would bump Stockton out. Cousy is too controversial for me to rank, despite the fact that his career overlapped with those of West and Robertson.

We know he doesnt like CP...but this is actually very objective. The only thing you can count on from CP is him NOT getting over the hump.
