I'm in Australia and we have a much better democratic tradition. We have a truly independent Electoral Commission which ensures that there is no gerrymandering. Most significantly we have compulsory voting with a turnout of 98%. This ensures that each government has a mandate based on its electoral promises. Furthermore there is no way that a candidate like Donald Trump with his criminal history could even reach the nomination stage.

Here's the thing with polling in the states. Not only is the population so high that any polling is hardly ever statistically viable, but it's also legal to have participant polling, which throws away any relevant to polling in general. All that matters is to people get out to vote.

I live in the deep red god-awful state of Florida, and I’ve already voted early by mail, and I voted blue all the way down the ballot!! And there’s two main reasons for that.
