Sonic Rush Adventure[a] is a 2007 adventure platform game for the Nintendo DS and the sequel to 2005's Sonic Rush. It follows Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails, who are teleported to an alternate dimension and seek the help of Blaze the Cat, while battling a band of robot pirates. Gameplay is similar to prior installments in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, with players controlling Sonic or Blaze through a series of side-scrolling levels while collecting rings and defeating enemies. Sonic Rush Adventure deviates from prior games with its elements of sea travel, featuring boating minigames that take advantage of the DS's touchscreen.

The game was developed by Dimps, with assistance from Sonic Team. It was programmed using an updated version of the original Sonic Rush's game engine. The game was designed to make greater use of the DS's touchscreen and was inspired by various adventure-themed works. Although the majority of the game is played in 2D, character models and boss fights are rendered in full 3D. Sega released the game worldwide in September 2007 and in Japan in October 2007. Sonic Rush Adventure is also the first Sonic game published by Nintendo, which released the game in South Korea in 2009.

Sonic Rush Adventure received generally positive reviews. Critics highlighted its presentation, particularly the visuals, and music, and some favorably compared the gameplay to that of the original Sega Genesis Sonic titles. Primary criticism was directed at the game's replay value (regarded as weak) and story (regarded as long and boring). Overall, reviewers felt it was a worthy addition to the Sonic franchise and a solid sequel to Sonic Rush, but also believed it innovated too little.

People also forget that there's literally 16 hidden stages that give multiple materials so you don't really have to replay levels that much unless you're doing post game grinding

The only Sonic Rush Adventure review on YouTube that I agree 95% with. I know I'm biased but this was the first Sonic game that I had ever played. To this day I think it's one of the best Sonic games ever made! I could go on and on about it but for now I'll just say that this game is actually pretty awesome. Great Video man!

I never played the Rush games, but going off what so many people said I did assume Adventure was worse. Then you bring up how Adventure improves the level design, bosses, and game overs. Shows to do our own research instead of just accepting the fan consensus

Tbh, Rush Adventure is one of my favourite Sonic games EVER! I just love that there's so much to do in the game, and it had so many quality-of-life upgrades compared to OG Rush! Love the ost, level design, characters, story, and YES, I like the boat sections too...

I also love the adventure of this game. Frankly because there's more to do than the 1st Rush game. Also it's that kind of style I missed in the recent sonic games. *Just some other things to do than just stage-to-stage.*

I enjoyed Sonic Rush Adventure due to the exploration of the game and how you get the emeralds in this game.

I've always thought people were crazy for not loving Adventure as much as the first game. A big part of that is because I LOVE the touch-screen mini-games, so exploring the ocean was an absolute blast for me.

To me, this was just Rush, but actually good. (I thought Rush was awful when I was a kid because of the frustration and difficulty I had trying to play through the levels and the bosses lol)
