KAAPELILAISET - Mikko Puotila

KAAPELILAISET-lyhytdokumenttisarjan seitsemästoista jakso esittelee pääasiassa paperinarusta erilaisia käyttötekstiilejä ja sisustustuotteita valmistavan Woodnotes Oy:n Yrityksen perusti tekstiilitaiteilija Ritva Puotila ja hänen poikansa Mikko Puotila vuonna 1987.

Woodnotesin toimitusjohtajana työskentelevän Mikko Puotilan ensimmäinen kosketus Kaapelitehtaaseen tapahtui jo vuonna 1980. "Tulin kaapelitehtaalle ekan kerran syksyllä 1980 tekemään kaapelia. Paikka oli suosittu nuorten keskuudessa ja täällä sai tehdä paljon ylitöitä. Tääl oli pula työntekijöistä ja ei haitannut vaikka ei ollut kokemusta. D-portaan kellarissa hitsasin vannerautaa, joka kierrettiin merikaapelikelan ympärille. Siitä se lähti"

The seventeenth episode of the short documentary series presents Woodnotes Oy that manufactures various textiles and decorative products out of paper yarn. The company was founded by textile artist Ritva Puotila and his son Mikko Puotila in 1987. Mikko Puotila, CEO of Woodnotes, got first time in touch with Cable Factory already in 1980. “I came here sometime in the autumn of 1980 to manufacture cable. The place was popular amongst young people, and you could work a lot overtime if you wanted to. There was a shortage of employees, and it did not matter even though you didn’t have any experience. I was in the basement and was welding hoop iron that was wrapped around the sea cable reel. That’s how it all started.”
