Honestly I don't care what kind of justification they try to throw at this; the fact is, he promised (repeatedly) to stop fossil fuel drilling and not approve any in the future. He broke that promise. There's no denying or sugarcoating that.

If President Biden had gone on tv and and said, " I know I promised no more drilling on federal land, but here is what has changed and why I made this decision" maybe people would have understood. But the way this has happened, with no explanation or any comment at all, most people, myself included, assume he just caved to political pressure and/or, the oil industry. Not a good look for a guy I respect as a straight shooter...until now.
