SOAR | a short film

The cinematography is very well done, and the music composition is fantastic, as it definitely strives to achieve the mood with relative success. I could attempt to complain about the lack of a challenging story, however, it would be redundant for me to spend my time criticising story where it is intentionally neglected. But the message of perseverance of adversity to achieve greatness is one that is successfully delivered upon, so congratulations.

I only really take issue with the overexposure/lighting on the character's faces, it's distracting and takes away from the aesthetics of the film. Some better colour grading could do as well. I'm also not so keen on the acting, which isn't too bad. However, the actors could do better to convince me that these characters are real human beings who move naturally and show genuine emotion.

Overall it's a pretty good short film with a good focus on visual storytelling and compelling music, which makes up for a lack of a challenging story. 7/10
