This is true for almost anything I buy these days…. I would gladly pay twice as much for a quality item (preferably US) that lasts forever, rather than a cheap semi-disposable POS

Shop time and the value of that is something that a lot of beginner smiths don't really take into consideration.

I have those exact both hammer eye punches...after I dressed the chinese punch it worked fine...however the FFF punch was nicer all around....thanks for the video

i've got a eye drift not a punch for as much as it gets used!! Brandon just looking at that chinesium one it looks cast and then ground to clean it up to me! it just has that cast look to it! and to be fair you have to buy some tools at the beginning or what are you going to use to make the rest with??

I knocked the handle out of a ball peen hammer, shaped the ball into a hammer eye punch, cleaned it up, and drove the handle back in. Not the most cost efficient use of time, but it was a fun project, and it works fine. I make most of my tools, but I've bought a few things just to support the blacksmithing community. Thanks for the video.
