I also use a NR1403 in stereo mode, the sound is very good. Connected to a pair of PSB Alpha T1 and a small Pioneer 8''/100W sub. It's a perfect match for my ears.

does the slim line receivers sound good on two channels or should i go with the hifi micro receiver marantz got.

A AVR is not ideal for 2-channel. But good start.

I think it is not very good, 2-channel amplifier that would be better when listening to music, saving money for pm8004, play this Nr1403 temporary.
