Days after an old video of the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s playful banter with a young Indian boy suspiciously surfaced online and received wide spread media attention and global backlash, Tibetans say that the Dalai Lama and the incident have been grossly misunderstood and misinterpreted.
Former CTA President Dr. Lobsang Sangay, US based Tibetan Jigme Ugen are among the many who said the incident is innocent and without any ill intent.
Supplementing their argument is the young Indian boy and his mother, who can be seen talking just moments after the incident that happened the same day on February 28, 2023 where they expressed their joy and happiness in meeting His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
