I have to wonder, what did Wheatley actually intend to do when he got to the surface? Because at the start of the game, and up until he gets control of the facility, he is pretty set on leaving Aperture. But then... what was his actual plan? Roll around in that wheat field from the end of the game until his power ran out?

Might as well have gone to space.

I really do enjoy how most of the portal animations protray the cores simply as humans. Their personalities and behavior are so humanlike in-game that someone who's never heard of portal could probably never tell whether or not they're robots just by listening to their voices.

Technically that wouldn’t be true the lift would still run. Because remember how you where doing test before wheatley turned glados back on. So why do you need a active core to run the lift if the test chambers and lifts were still running when glados was deactivated.
