As a straight white male I would be happy to watch a movie based on african history or mythology with mosly black women, if:

A) its good
b) it stays true to the actual history or mythology
c) its genuine and not political

By these standards films like 1917 wouldn't have even been allowed to be considered by the Oscars. None of the Lord of the Rings films would have qualified. This is a form of madness.

That's why I can't stop watching movies from before 2012, they used to be so much better that it's almost incomparable with todays movies.
