Product Sourcing:

When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either  purchase and item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review.  Many suppliers are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.

Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding.  Even with sponsored reviews I will only agree to a sponsorship on products and services which I believe will be of genuine interest to viewers.

Sometimes a supplier will provide a link to the product or the supplier which I am happy to include in the description.  Sometimes I will be provided with an affiliate link so I can earn a commission on sales and this helps to support channel costs but never at the expense of an honest review. There is no cost to you and in some cases discounts can be obtained via the link or via an included code.

If a product I have reviewed is available from Amazon I will often include an Amazon link in the description.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. There is no additional charge to you.

Aspirin would be contraindicated for a hemorrhagic stroke, as it would promote bleeding, but could be useful for an ischemic (blood clot) stroke or heart attack. The problem is that you don't know which kind of stroke you are having until someone looks inside your head. I have the Nitecore NU33 head lamp (actually two of them) and they rock. Not sure how they differ from the NU25. Excellent screen presence, sir, and its good to see a real grownup promoting EDC, especially with your experience in the field. Happy to see subscribers continuing to increase. I've been on board since the beginning.

I like the magnet idea. One time my wife was stepping off a boat onto a dock, and our only set of keys popped out of her pocket into the water. I had to climb down a rotten wooden ladder covered in barnacles, into ice cold water filled with jelly fish to hunt for the keys. My neighbor came over with a large magnet, dropped into the water and I immediately heard a loud clank as the magnet and the keys found each other. A magnet can be very handy.

Jon, you cost me a fortune 😂 your reviews are honestly the best on the net! Your laid back informative style works superbly. Many thanks from a older fan.

This guy is incredible. Normally I have to look at many videos of this type, but this guy literally looks like he has anything you could possibly practically need, all in a very lightweight, compact package. This video is not just science but an art. Incredible.

You should consider swapping the zip ties with reusable ones, they can be a tad larger at the closure end, but it is so useful to be able to keep using them over and over.

Nice upgrades. I love that you keep the purpose of your kit in mind. Too often people lose sight of the purpose and the kit becomes a huge, unfocused jumble that will end up being left at home because it is too big and heavy.

Excellent video, I used your 2022 kit ideas to make my own!! Already traveled with it once and it was great.

Some viewers may not know that the Deluxe Tinker would not be allowed through airport security. For this reason, I put a strong serrated plastic knife from Humangear in my travel kit, and put anything with a metal blade in my checked bag.

Some of your viewers might EDC a Victorinox Compact and Rovyvon A8. For these people, the Deluxe Tinker would be redundant except for the pliers. To cover that, a Gerber Dime, Leatherman Squirt or Style, or Knipex Cobra XS would have larger pliers for a smaller tool size (the Style and Cobra could even go on most flights). The Rovyvon A8 has some hands-free options, such as clipped to a shirt/sleeve/pocket/hat or attached to a metal surface, allowing it to act as the headlamp, making it possible to leave the Nitecore home. These changes would save a bit of space and weight in the kit.

I guess I'm not the only person that buys Jon's recommendations even if I don't need them :)

Nice bit of kit, thank you Jon. I second the reusable ties someone else mentioned. Also, I know whistles might be on a key chain or some-such, but I generally like to keep another one in the kit just in case (this is for EDC and for travel/hiking/outdoor); as a more vulnerable person, this is an important addition and can be small enough to include.

The deluxe tinker is a excellent choice for that kit…! I bought mine not to long ago and it’s been amazing and just what I needed especially at it price point at the minute! 👍🏼 great video!

Thanks Jon, as always some great ideas there. I've something similar for travel with one main exception. I leave any bladed multi-tool out. And I will add that into my bag separately if I am not flying anywhere or I fly with luggage. Last year on a domestic flight where even liquids are allowed I was pulled up because of some scissors in my carry on bag. It turned out they were ok as they were small and blunt tipped but still it was a 20 minute delay. So I have 2 travel EDC now. One for flying and one for other travel.

I've got to say I'm impressed by how much you've got into that! I use a Maxpedition Micro as a small tech kit and I tried switching to the Mini but couldn't actually fit as much into it. I don't think it's as thick as the Micro, strangely. I certainly couldn't imagine fitting all of what you've fit into it!

Your videos are an invaluable source of information for me. I've been watching each one several times so I can customize a survival kit for gift giving occasions to family members who'd benefit from one. Thank you for the time and effort you put into offering your experiences and opinions on all of the products you review. You're saving me countless hours of random searches and comparisons on my own.

Cost per item and overall cost would be a good addition to this video format.

Strong magnets are brilliant...

I once pulled an open socket set from the boot of the car and EVERYTHING went down a drain cover I'd parked over.

Broom handle, pry bar duct taped to that and then 2 strong magnets on the end.

Got everything back. Cleaned. Liberally sprayed with WD-40. No harm done and I now ALWAYS check clips.
