This was my MOS for 3 years (95D at that time). Plan on never being "off duty" as you can be called out at any time. Excellent training for a Federal law enforcement career

Great video I have two friends that are currently CID. One is a warrant officer and the other one is a staff sergeant both of them work with me prior In military law enforcement and in they have worked in civilian law enforcement as well. They also have worked on personal security details which is another large mission that CID does.

Got a 70 with a 105 ST and enlisted as an MP. I’m planning on retaking the test after I get my bachelors in 2 years.

Great breakdown! This job is definitely not for everyone, you definitely HAVE to be a type A personality, and almost right out of the gate you are expected to work autonomously without little oversight. I’d say this is the second best MOS other than SF. But you gotta be ready to take a lot of hard knocks and hold your own.

Got to my first duty station and just about everyone in my platoon accused me of being CID. With no idea of what that even was, I came here to educate myself. Makes sense now.

Be advised, this MOS is not for everyone. Second point, this is not an entry-level position. Granted some MPs Work with C ID and may be assigned to that division. It takes a tenured soldier, who is been in a while as an MP to get this position. It’s equivalent to a detective on the street. You’re not gonna have a life

my question is- what are the realistic chances of getting this job? Is it extremely competitive? I'd imagine it would be like getting into a good college. Everyone wants it

I plan on joining the Army but I got to start with step 1 which is take the ASVAB. I'm interested in being a supplier, a officer, and national guard. Also depends on what score I get and what Job I get. But those are what I'm interested in.
I also need to talk to a recruiter and plan a date to take my ASVAB. I missed the opportunity In high school so I'll have to take the ASVAB when I talk with an recruiter.

Can you switch from 31B to 31D after 2 years in reserves? Or do you have to stay in one MOS for the full 6 years as a reservist (That would be how long it would take me to get my masters in criminal justice while I’m in the military, even though I know I wouldn’t need that after 2 years, it would help pay wise/future experience why)

OK so I'll be an MP for one year and in that year I'll obtain my Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice...okay so what are my chances to be a Criminal Investigator in the civilian world? Or can I make a career as CID within the Military?

Check out AR 195-2 & AR 195-3 to learn more. Also speak to the local CID Detachment Sergeant (1SG) as one must be selected by CID Cmnd for training. You cannot enlist or re-up to be CID, you must be selected by CID Cmnd. Depending upon the needs of the Army, Company Grade Officer's can apply but you must get a Branch Release and you enter the "program" as a SGT or SSG. One must serve as an accredited Enlisted special agent for at least 2 years before one can be considered and apply for selection for Warrant Officer. Biggest issue, you must be able to obtain and keep a TS/SCI clearance. Good Luck.
