Honestly, if Larian went this route, I think it would have led to an interesting character study of Halsin that could have given him more depth in Act 2 into Act 3. This would also explain why Halsins' actor said that the cut scene he had if Isobel died was the most emotional thing he had ever done if this plot point was kept.

Hell, could you imagine how a meeting at last light would have been like if you had Halsin in the party if you went to speak with Isobel at any point? I'm actually curious now how Larian would have handled that scenario.

My Durge- "damn, you know what would be even funnier the second time??"

That would make so much sense to why he is so hellbent to fixing the land cursed from his actions. Making every life lost from it and since blood on his hands.

That's true, but if I remember correctly, Halsin killed Isobel because she attacked him first. They fought and he killed her in self-defense or something like that. Halsin never forgave himself for this and always tormented himself for what he had done to her. It's very sad.

"Seems like you feel somewhat responsible for the Shadow Curse"

See it’s cut, but not in my heart. Isobel doesn’t remember what happened, Ketheric is too busy doing Ketheric stuff, and Halsin is too grief stricken to confess what he did - even tho from what I understand it was in self defence. This is still the backstory in my mind because it makes everything else make perfect sense. I love it so much.

dude, that would have been awesome for character development. and that's why it feels like he's so responsible for the curse that engulfed shadow land, bcs if he did killed isobel, he's indirectly responsible.

Honestly, that makes sense to me. The way Halsin talked about Moonrise and the Shadow Curse, always felt like there was way more weight to it than just "Oh, he lost his nature spirit friend in that war and misses him." I kinda figured it was either that he was originally some kind of greedy mayor type who became a druid as penance or something along those lines that put him more heavily at the epicenter of it all.

From what I’ve read Halsin was supposed to be in some sort or rage or bewitched or some such that caused him to kill isobel. Hence is great grief

Damn, they need to put that content back in! It would have given Halsin more character depth. And to hear they cut some of Dave Jone's most emotional scenes....I am devastated. PUT IT BACK LARIAN. PUT IT BACK.

Dang it, this would have been such a great character arc for him to go through

THAT JUST MAKES ME LOVE HIM MORE!

It gives him a more complicated character arc than "Good guy was born good, had bad sexual things happen to him, but he always has been good and light and rainbows."

In my head, the enslavement in the Underdark could have given him some motive to kill Isobel through any number of plot points never confirmed. Maybe the most tragic would be by mistake. Or if he was forced to kill her.

I am definitely headcannoning this forever now.

He had to have a traumatic story to tell his kids on a random monday afternoon

Ah yes, the cut content for Halsin's story: He was the original cause of the curse in Act 2 and wants to make amends by getting rid of the curse. Too bad they cut it out in favour of Halsin disappearing through a portal for some random kid...

I'm so glad that plotline got cut... I couldn't imagine Halsin doing something like that 😱

It’s funny because when I first met him and he was talking about having to go to the Shadow-Cursed lands, I just remember how desperate he sounded and thinking “man, there’s got to be more than this. He *really* wants to lift this curse.” Turns out I’m half-right that he had a dark secret

I can't believe this!... He doesn't like viscera. He's a precious teddy bear, literally! My papa bear would never!

Actually I would have loved it to be included. It would make an interesting story line and it would make sense why Halsin was so hell bent on lifting it besides his friend Thaniel. Also him working for the oak father’s favor makes more sense since it’s probably because he had gain his God’s approval back after what he did to Isobel and Reithwen

If it's cut it isn't Canon.

With that being said, it still kinda just makes the sorrow glaive feel weird and out of place now. Wish they actually did something with it.

The only thing we know in-Canon is that while Ketheric was away, most likely on a Selunite mission, an unknown assailant killed both Isobel and the family dog. This assailant most likely had connections to Shar. Ketheric, renowned Selunite leader, turned to Shar to cope with his grief.

Dame Aylin was framed for the murder, and Ketheric took “revenge” on her by trapping her in the Shadowfell.

Halsin being magically manipulated by Shar into attacking Isobel still fits in the Canon.
